With the imminent closure of what has simultaneously been the world’s longest – and shortest year, it’s timely to give you an update on ID Dunedin 2021. (many apologies for any cross postings)
Firstly, thank you for your support this year. For all of us 2020 wasn’t without its challenges, but our Board’s decision to move to an online event early in the year ensured we were able to present an outstanding Awards, even without having the emerging designers in Dunedin. We were thrilled with the quality of the video awards we created by working with NHNZ creating the first ID International Emerging Designer Awards Finalist Film. Everyone who viewed the film commented on how it gave them a uniquely personal insight into the young designers. If you haven’t seen it, check out the video below.

Last month we hosted our AGM. While we were sad to officially farewell co-chair Sally Peart and board member Tania Dickie. We welcomed marketer Mike Waddell to the board. We’re delighted to have him on the team and we think his experience will help propel us forward. He’s already hit the ground running and we expect you will hear from him in 2021.

Looking ahead to next year, we want you to know that we are finalising plans for what will be an exciting programme.
The iD International Emerging Designer Awards 2021 call for applications will be made in mid-January with aspiring designers needing to submit the photographs of their designs by the end of February.
We’re planning an iD International Emerging Designer Awards show in Dunedin in mid-June and will be encouraging a finalists from New Zealand and throughout Australasia to join us in Dunedin then. As well as the Show – which will culminate will the announcement of prizes valued up to $10,000, we’re developing some other exciting opportunities for finalists, which we look forward to confirming in the new year.
Once again, thanks for your support in 2020 we look forward to working closely with you and bringing ID to Dunedin once more in 2021. Until then, stay safe and happy.
